Arm Lift Procedure

This procedure varies from person to another. Your surgeon will choose for you the best type of the arm lift procedure, depending on your needs and the desired results.
There are five main types of Brachioplasty procedures:

1.Standard Brachioplasty

Standard Brachioplasty, or known as an Upper Arm Lift, is the most common type of Brachioplasty procedure. It is used to remove excess skin that droops from the armpit towards the wrist bone besides excess tissues.

This procedure is best for people who have lost a significant amount of weight.
During this process, the surgeon will make an incision extending from your armpit to your elbow, then he/she will remove excess fat and skin and stitch the incision.

2.Limited Brachioplasty

Limited Brachioplasty, or known as a Mini Arm Lift, is the appropriate procedure for people who have flabby skin near the armpit and a limited amount of fat.

So, they need a minor skin reduction in the inner part of the upper arms.
This type is ideal for people who have lost a moderate amount of weight because of diet and exercise, or those who experienced sagging skin because of the aging process.

During a mini arm lift, the surgeon will make an incision in the armpit wrinkle to remove the excess fat and pull up the skin toward the armpit area. Then he/she will close the incision, which will be only visible in the armpit.

The made incision in this process will be smaller compared with the shaped incision in the upper arm lift procedure.

3.Extended Brachioplasty

Extended Brachioplasty or Extended Arm Lift is the best process to alter the surroundings of the arm for people who have lost an extreme amount of weight.

During this process, the surgeon will make an incision extending from the inner surface and back of the arm area. With this incision,

he/she will remove the maximum amount of excess skin and fatty tissue located under the arm area along and the side of the chest wall. Then close the incision with sutures.

This procedure will leave a visible scar on the back of the inner arm area.

4.L-Brachioplasty

L-Brachioplasty, or referred to as L Arm Lift, is a suitable procedure for people who have a saggy armpit and heavy laxity in the arm and the lateral chest tissue.

During this procedure, the surgeon will make an incision extending from the inner surface and back of the arm area, in addition to an L shaped incision from the armpit to the chest at a right angle.

With these incisions, he/she will remove the maximum amount of excess skin and fatty tissue located under the arm area along and the side of the chest wall.

To complete the procedure, the surgeon will stitch the incisions with sutures.
This process can solve the problems which can’t be treated with the extended procedure.

5.Short Scar Brachioplasty

Short Scar Brachioplasty, or known as T Arm Lift, is a procedure for the people who suffer from moderate tissue laxity of the upper arm.

During this process, the surgeon will make two incisions. One of them will be as T shape to combine the diamond or crescent-shaped incision done on the mini procedure, while the other small one will be on the upper arm.

With these incisions, the surgeon will correct the upper arm tissue laxity and lift the arm skin toward the armpit, then he /she will close the incisions.

After finishing the surgery, the surgeon will cover the incisions in bandages, which will be removed after two days.
Brachioplasty surgery takes from two to three hours, and it may be performed under local or general anesthesia according to which method your surgeon chooses.

In some cases, surgeons may use arm liposuction to remove excess fat for dramatic results.
